Thousand Trails Membership

Any good or not so good advise on Thousand Trails? It seems pretty decent as long as you plan to travel in their "ZONE". I didnt get the feel of a high pressure time share type. Right now if you purchase 1 zone for $545.00 you get a second zone free. If you renew every year contiously you will always get the second zone free of charge.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
David
  • I would read reviews of various TT parks in the zone where I thought I might stay before committing. Some are glorified parking lots with hook ups.

Passport America has many of them in their 1/2 price membership. You could try a few out before buying.

If you like enough of the parks in the zone/s you are buying, and you will be spending enough time to make it worth it (at least 30 nights per year) in those particular parks, go for it.
  • If (and that is a big IF) you are going to travel in the area of the ZONE where TT CGS are and you are going to use them....just figure how many of them and how many times you would use them in one year....... LESS than $595 worth or would it cost you more? (At $35/nite....17 stays breaks even)

Besides it's only for 1 year.......no long term commitment.
  • There are a few on ebay. Pricing varies. A couple of them have an asking price or best offer.
  • We checked into it for our 4 month trip this year but even using the 2 zones we were going to spend most of the time there were only a couple of TT parks that would have worked so we forgot about it.
  • We did a free camping weekend and got the sales pitch. Personally I never wanted to be that restricted. Also it is my understanding you can buy memberships from private parties wanting to get out. Just my take on it. Best of luck
