Three in a row

We are well into our third cold wet winter here in the RGV (Rio Grande Valley) of Texas. Haven't seen the sun since Christmas and didn't get above 42 degrees yesterday. They do say that we will bust into the 50's today. I hope so. End of rant on a cold January morning.

    Tom,

What part of the Rio Grande Valley are you in? What you're describing sounds like what we've been experiencing in Las Cruces, NM, (north of El Paso) - not what is typical for the lower valley such as Mission, McAllen, Brownsville, etc.

  • Actually December had the nicest weather in our past 12 seasons, Swimming pool weather both Christmas eve and Christmas day. Since arriving in mid Oct I have worn shorts every day except 5 days until the past 5 days. I admit the weather has been nasty the last few days, all it takes is a few days of cold wet weather to forget how nice it has been up until this point.
  • We seem to be alternating between hot and cold. November was cool and December was warm. All we have to do is wait for February?
  • But before Christmas the weather was Wonderful!! We were running the AC. Still prefer a sweatshirt, or light jacket to the winter coat/hat/gloves! Hopefully, we get some nicer weather, but January seems to be the cloudy/rainy month of the year here????
  • We're in the Tampa area now but are headed for the RGV starting next week. Planning on staying in a few places along the Gulf coast and watching the weather before making the decision on how far west to go.

It's been warm here - a bit too warm for us - but today it's 60s and rain expected. It has been an interesting season.
  • Yesterday was a good day to read a book for sure.

Personally, I don't mind a little cool weather as long as most of the time it's warm which most of December was - very warm!
  • Cooling down to the 70's today.:)
Have broken or tied record highs 6 out of the last 8 days.
  • Makes SW Arizona sound good this year. No rain, lows in the 40's with highs in the 60's & 70's. It is cooler than what some call "normal", but the records say otherwise. It is on par with the "averages" of the era of the middle to later parts of the 20th century.
