Hi gang! Need your help ASAP. Just got my bid sheet for 2021 vaykay's and in talking w/ the DW, would like to know which time frame is better? What's open? Are things less expensive? Of course all this hinges on wether or not we can go to TN based on travel ban being from NY. Sadly I have to submit it back ny tmrw (tonight in my case), so will go with what replies I see back by late this afternoon.Sorry for the short notice/request. TIA.

Can't tell which time would be better-we went in the dead of summer and it was HOT. The advice I CAN give you is this-if you have to commit now I would pick September as the chances of you actually getting there should be better. June is still a bit iffy at this point. It's a little cooler in September as well.

Prices wont change because of that timing fwiw.You also wont have any problem from TN re virus travel. If there's a problem, it will be from NY officials. TN understands and values tourists. May i ask where in TN you are planning to visit?

Nashville and Memphis are the hot spots really with a few other Places mixed in but all in all travel inn TN is not restricted right now. Mask mandates are in force but that is only prudent. There is no real "off" season in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/ Sevierville area. We seem to ALWAYS be busy, just some times more than others but still busy. Campground space is usually not a huge problem because if someone is full there is another place that isn't.If I were to recommend a time to come September would be it. Yes, last summer was a bit warm but not as hot as the year before was. Weather is up to mother natures whim. A roll of the dice so to speak as to what you will run into in either the spring OR the fall. Today, 12/10. was 62 and mostly sunny. Beautiful.What are you looking to travel to and do? I can say that TN state parks are top notch if that is what you like. No shortage of private parks most eveywhere you go either. Choices are plentiful.

As far as COVID goes yes, TN doesn't have any travel restrictions at the moment, which surprised me, but I think you are correct that NY may still impose some at that time. There may or may not be a high risk of cancelled plans but it's still something to consider. As we are heading to AK early June we are hoping much has been eased by then.

You will have a great time!

I grew up 15 miles from the Bristol Speedway. They do pretty well on traffic on race days, but there will be some impact on the interstate. Not huge, but a LOT of people like to attend that race. Pay attention to the race timing too- i assume Sept will be a night race.

My many thanks for all the replies and since I posted this question yesterday, I had to make a decision before I went to work last night and unable to read posts made due to my schedule after 130pm. That being said, the DW figures a couple things that's already been said (Covid may be less of a prob, less people and perhaps a tad cooler). So in the end, I put in for the Sept date. Don't think it will be much of a problem getting it.

Another thing I didn't take into consideration was NASCAR races. I literally just looked at NASCAR's website and saw that the Bristol race just so happens to be the w/e we'd be coming back to NY, so now the wheels are really spinning and will be checking w/ the company a bit later today to see if I did get the week. Should I get it, will ask for a personal day that Sun and try to convince the Mrs to go to it. Saw a spring race there back in '08. Getting kinda excited now.

Early June is much better. Early September is just an extension of August. Everything is open.

If things return to normal by June, there are two huge music festivals in middle TN to contend with. The CMA festival is in Nashville, and Bonaroo in Manchester. I believe CMA is scheduled for June 10-13 next year, and bonnaroo the following week. If you’re interested in either festival, would be good to plan to be here then. If not interested, don’t plan your trip to the Nashville area at that time as everything is packed and lodging/camping options are hard to come by.

What is going to be open will be open in June, and won't close till after September.
COVID restrictions in Tennessee have been done at the county level, and I don't see that changing unless it'a forced from the Federal level.
As to the Weather, I'll take early June over early September. Early June isn't full hot. And early September has cooled off yet.
