Some of our top boondocking modifications/inclusions have been - in no particular order - the following:
Probably number 1) is the most important one, number 10) is the second most important one, and number 8) is the third most important one:
1) Addition of a long range cell tower access system for emergency communications out in the middle of nowhere.
2) Addition of a reversible roof vent fan for maintaining pressure in the interior to keep road dush/dirt from entering any coach opening when traveling offroad.
3) Replacement of the OEM battery interconnect solenoid with a silver alloy contact model for ultra-reliable engine alternator charging of coach batteries.
4) Replacement of the original liquid acid batteries with AGM batteries so as to take advantage of their lower internal resistance for shorter charging times.
5) Retrofit of the stock OEM tires with a larger diameter size for added offroad ground clearance.
6) Inclusion of a special very small, very quiet portable generator in our onboard equipment specifically for battery charging under any boondocking conditions, backed up by the main generator or engine alternator.
7) Inclusion of a Fantastic Fan in our onboard equipment for quiet, low-battery-draw cooling when conditions don't warrant use of the air conditioner.
8) Complete retrofit to LED lighting several years ago.
9) Inclusion of five sets of non-breakable solid wood step leveling blocks in our onboard equipment for up to 3-point leveling on rough surfaces of up to 5 tires or alternately - for use in getting unstuck.
10) Covering of both roof vents with vent covers so as to maintain good interior ventilation when boondocking in the rain or in high winds.
11) Inclusion of a pure sine wave inverter in our onboard equipment for running sensitive 120V AC appliances without running either generator.
12) Replacing our laptop computer's 120V AC brick with a 12 volt DC brick so no (somewhat inefficient) inverter is necessary to watch movies, surf the WEB, or read/write emails.
