The Yuk to some of the popular destinations thread got me wondering if we're in the minority or majority. Do you drive to a destination and then spend the majority of you time at this one location? Or as us, spend most of your time traveling to multiple spots before and after your furthest point.We are definitely in the tourer category. Example being that we had booked 4 nights at St. Augustine SP, FL. It took us a week and a couple of days each way, to and from, just to smell the roses and see the sights. A night or two here or there and seeing what we could see at a nice easy pace. Four night in one local seems to be our limit and then we get happy feet, or wheels, and gotta move.Guess that's due to being recently retired and still in that gotta move to see what's next mode. But getting better.

After my 20 years in the Coast Guard, and 9 duty stations, I tried the landlocked routine at the X wifes demand for a place of her own. I missed the moving and learning new places. I cant wait to get back out and going.Even on vacations, I don't stay anywhere more than 5 days before I want to go.

This topic gets discussed at least weekly on these forum. Often times under the subject is how many miles a day, etc.

We're destinationers...Own a lot in the southwest and when not there we stay in one place on the Ca. Delta. We enjoy the travel to and from however and have our favorite stop overs.

Mostly a Tourister except when we're not. We're Destinationers when visiting relatives for a week or two.

Always a tourister. We have a wonderful destination home location, relatives are all close by or we stop off in Alabama on our way somewhere else. We bought the motorhome to see the country. We wanted to take extended road trips and not have to deal with hotels and restaurants. We have our two greyhounds and they would make it impossible for an automobile trip. I also hate extended hotel stays and too many restaurant meals. I've found my limit on cruises is seven nights. After that, I'm ready for my bed and my kitchen. I need some control in my life and by controlling my lodging and most of my food I'm usually pretty happy.Perhaps someday we will want to go and stay somewhere else for a few months, but not now, probably never.

We drive to get from destination to destination. IN other words, we are tourists. We stop when we feel like it but we usually have an idea of where we will eventually get. When I was a single 20 something, I had a 5 day weekend every month. I always knew that I would be back home on Monday evening, but I never knew where I would be tonight. This was before cell phones and my friends would ask how they know I was ok. I told them that I was ok unless a police officer knocked on my parents door to tell them that I was dead. My mom hated when I said that.

We've decided we don't like the travel, so I guess we are destination driven. We decided to sit in the N. GA mountains this summer instead of traveling far. We can get here in 10 hours or so which requires splitting it up with 1 night on the road. I think our traveling-a-far-distance days are over.

It doesn't matter to us. If we set a farpoint destination, that just means that's all the farther we'll go this round. We take the time to see what there is where we are and move on.

To those who think this is a repetitive I must apologize, but my question wasn't how far you drive in a day, how many days before on the road again nor the length of your trip. I asked how long you plop before heading back on the road. Do you spend the majority of your time at the destination or on the route? Sorry full timers, you're in another category and envied.

As enthusiastic bikers (Schwinn not Harley) we are destinationers and will ride the bike trails within 45 minutes of where we are camped.

We are full timers and usually have one destination each year.

This summer we came to just south of the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan for my wife to spend a couple day long visits with her best friend from high school. From April 30 to Sept 17, 6,000 miles, 22 campgrounds, 6 national parks, monuments, lakeshore, river. Takes my a swim in four of the Great Lakes,

2017 was a week visiting her daughter in Portland Oregon. 2016 was mostly in Texas and Arkansas while settling my fathers estate. 2015 was a six month volunteer session in Connecticut to see her brother. He passed May 2016.

The journey from TX to CT included my fathers 90th birthday in Arkansas, her eldest granddaughter wedding in Ft Lauderdale, FL , my eldest first cousin’s first great grand child birth in Virginia,

Along the miles I’ve hit many bucket list items like Yellowstone and the Statue of Liberty, cousins of mine from Seattle to Jacksonville, FL.

This Christmas our goal is to meet her second great grand child in Orlando, and celebrate her 80th birthday with her son and family in Ft Lauderdale.

I guess we are tourers.

Both, but I guest we're destinationers, when we get to a destination, then I guess we're touristers. One Example; We wanted to see Yellowstone, so that was our destination, after we got there we were tourists.

To me, the journey is as important (sometimes more) as the destination.
