Trip from Tucson area in Mid march

Dear All,

I have been Rv'ing for some time, but have moved to Southern Arizona in the last few years. We are looking for a destination for a week trip in mid march. The weather is still to questionable for the Arizona or Utah national parks, I think. Any suggestions? Southern California comes to mind.

Thanks in advance,

Steve
  • Moab in March usually has nice daytime temps that are usually in the high 60s, with the average low in the mid 30's. Even record lows are in the mid to high 20s. And that only lasts for a couple of hours. That is our favorite time of the year to visit Moab, Canyonlands NP, Arches NP, Dead Horse State Park and other attractions in the area. We've been several times in March and never had a problem with freezing.
  • Prescott, AZ is a nice town and overall location to visit. There may be some snow left on the top of the hills, but the roads should be fine and you shouldn't have to worry about freezing.

I'd pick two or three locations and then choose one based on weather.

The CA state parks around Ventura are very nice and the people from CA don't go to them if it's less than 70 degrees. There are couple of nice parks (more expensive) up further at Half Moon Bay and you're only 30 minutes from SF.

  • We just got back from a month in Indio, CA from Sahuarita. Nice area. We like Indian Waters RV Park.
  • Zion and environs are lower in elevation and generally quite nice in March.
