If you're still making cg reservations, look in Custer for your Black Hills leg. It is central to many of the attractions (although some can be an hour+ away). We stayed for 10 days last year and loved it. You'll have Custer SP, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse nearby. Your entrance fee is good for multiple days. We did Mt. Rushmore and CH twice, once during the day and once at night. Multiple times through CSP. Moon's travel guide of the area is an excellent resource for branching out in different directions to cover all the other attractions. Keep in mind the Sturgis rally dates at the end of July...
We stayed at Ft. Welikeit, and we liked it :) Smaller, quiet cg fit our style. No pool or extra amenities, but excellent bath/shower rooms!
