Put together shorter video parts, put them up on youtube and then get everyone to watch the separate parts at different times (but all together) on their personal devices. Maybe that would have made them look forward to the game. :W

This is not a bad idea... put the videos on a Facebook page.
When I was younger, I was not impressed with people showing travel pictures (this was back when you had to set up the screen and break out the slide projector or movie projector). Now, I love to sit and watch trip pictures and hear all about it!
Also, it actually kinda sounds like you have "normal" relatives... Can be annoying, hurtful, wonderful, great, loving, or not. And you're stuck with them! Enjoy things as they are, and everything will come around again.
