We did the Buffalo Roundup a couple years back. What a sight to see, you have to get there very early in the morning. I think the time was 5a.m. or close to it. To me it was well worth it. Everyone should see it at least once. We stayed at Fort WeLikIt in custer. Very nice clean park close to everything you will need.
As for Amana the only spot is the Amana RV park (am there now)
the Iowa Good Sam has their rally there every year. FHU all sites are back to back camping, but there are more than enough sites to make it a good stay. Check out the meat market and the brewery.
