Trip to the UP Michigan
We are taking a trip to the UP this June. We plan on the stopping the first night around Vandalia, IL. Anyone have any recommendations?

Our weekend get away is Eldon Hazlet SP at Carlyle Lake. 350 sites so you don't need a reservation. It only fills up on holiday weekends. It is $20/night w/electric. No FHU. It is like camping in the woods, big old oaks. The other parks are groomed.
If you get off at Exit 30 (Rt 143 Pierron,IL Exit) go South (1 block) to gas station/stop lights. Turn left on Rt. 143 follow it to Rt 127, turn Right and head South to the entrance. It is about 30 minutes from Exit 30. It cuts out going to Greenville, IL then South. Rt. 143 is a nice road. Carlyle Lake is a beautiful lake. Nice flat roads to ride bikes. There is a Walmart on Rt 127 near Carlyle. The Keys restaurant in Keysport has good food. There is a restaurant by Dam West Marina and a winery on Rt. 127. There are 4 smaller COE parks around the lake that are nice and have some FHU sites but you must have a reservation.
Another option is Ramsey SP it is 13 miles north of Vandalia. Nice park. Nothing around there.
