- sch911ExplorerWe book our sites for Topsail Hill SP exactly at 12:01 AM 11 months in advance every year. It's the only way to get what we want. Have never been denied.
- agesilausExplorer IIIPrivate CG in the Keys are very expensive. The State parks, especially Bahia Honda are very nice. Camping in the Keys is very popular. So mix all that together and you get what you are seeing, it is very difficult to grab a SP site and has been for as long as I can recall. Last time I got to camp at Bahia Honda was when we were heading down expecting to to get a private CG site. This was in the off-season. As we came up to BH I just pulled in on a whim and asked if they had any cancellations and Lo! they did. Not something I would plan on getting however.
It would be better maybe if they went to a Yosemite type lottery system.
BK - Big_KatunaExplorer IIYou book a site for whatever date you get then plan your trip around those dates.
Florida State Parks charge about a third to a fourth of what commercial parks charge in the area, have three times as many employees with full benefits and are on pieces of properties that a commercial venture couldn't afford.
Sometimes I think as a Florida tax payer, they should charge full market value.
At least I could get in occasionally. - bassrats2ExplorerWe are planning a trip in April 2014. I have been told, we will be lucky to get a site. We are going to try. Good luck.
- trop-a-calExplorerIt's the Walmart of RV sites.
