Tunica MS casino campgrounds

We haven't been to Tunica in quite a while and was wondering if Hollywood and Sam's Town still had their campgrounds open? Also is Paula Dean's restaurant now closed? Thanks.

  • Jim Shoe etal,
This was Saturday night and I must say the casino was packed!

  • It must have been really slow when Mike and I were there. The wait staff even delivered free drinks to us when we were playing quarter slots. And we got comped to a theatre along the strip. Michael Flatley's "Lord of the Dance" was the attraction. We had reserved seats in the front row and free drinks from the wait staff.
  • UPDATE.

We stayed at Hollywood campground last night. It is as nice as it ever was. There was no one on duty at the clubhouse. You have to go to the front desk to check in. $24 for a night. We didn't gamble enough to get comped.

Several years ago, a buddy of mine and I drove a car north to south through Alabama, playing the Robert Trent Jones golf trail courses, then crossed the border to Biloxi, Mississippi and stayed at Casino Magic for about a week. We did very little gambling but the suites we stayed in and the restaurants where we ate were dirt cheap. Neither of us realized at the time that the casinos were actually on barges that were anchored in the gulf about a yard off shore as gambling on the mainland wasn't legal.
Maybe Mississippi has made mainland gambling illegal again.

Just the opposite, after Katrina, they passed law that allowed mainland gambling to within 800yds(?) of shoreline.i.e. just other side of hywy 90.

  • They both were open just this week. Mid South RV Park or anything associated with Harrahs Tunica is closed. They have actually started tearing down the casino.
  • Hollywood was open a year ago when we went through and stopped for the night.
