Too bad you were turned off by the closed business up front. There used to be a rafting company there along with a store and snack bar. They are gone. If you had called ahead, Randy the RV Park owner, could have told you about it. The RV sites are way back behind the store and stored RVs. High Adventure is definitely not a resort, but had everything we needed - 50 amp power, water, sewer, grass, trees and quiet.
We were going to stop for the night at High Adventure RV and quickly turned around. The place looked vacant except for a few permanent RV in the rear. There was a sign to drop the 'cash' in the slot and if bathrooms are needed to go down the road to the state park. The laundry was closed, too.
We stayed outside Twin Fall at High Adventure RV Park 1211 E 2350 S, Hagerman, ID 83332 (208) 837-9005 Passport America park, $17-20
The owner was trying to sell the park last year so things may have changed a bit. The sites are large, shaded by mature tress, satellite friendly, full hook ups with 50 amp power.
Lots of things to do in the are. Here is a list we used.
Twin Falls Attractions
City of Rocks Natural Reserve Caldron Linn Canyon/Snake River Bruneau Canyon Overlook Balanced Rock 45th Parallel (half way point between North Pole and Equator Snake River: white water rafting; kayaking; boat rentals; Evel Knievel jump site from 1974; for the adventurous: “Zip” the Snake; parachute off the Perrine Bridge Shoshone Falls (supposedly 40 feet higher than Niagara Falls) Sawtooth National Forest scenic drive: 93 to 75 to 21 (if snow is gone) to 84 (approx 300 miles); could do this in 2 days: second day 84 to 21 Thousand Springs Scenic Byway Craters of the Moon Natural Monument & Preserve; Lava Fields Shoshone Ice Caves (a lava tube 1,000 feet long; tours, dress warm)
Rock Creek County Park beside the old Twin Falls Hospital, now a county building. Water, electric hook-ups. Dump near by. Nice sites and a beautiful park. Our regular stop going north and south for about a week each time.
Ride the falls, seriously?? Have you been there? Downstream from the falls, though, there is probably some good fishing on the river. The Craters-Hailey trip suggested previously is a decent idea, but a LOT of driving. (Been there, done that.) Just FYI. :)
A little out of the way, about 100 miles Northeast is Craters of the Moon national monument. As far as I know, there is no other place like it in the world. Good for a day trip, with Sun Valley/Ketchum/Hailey due West for a nice dinner on your way home.
Wow thanks for the info, keep em coming, we are planning on a week long trip up in Twin Falls area in mid June, taking my inflatable boat with 9.8 hp motor along, going to ride the falls if I can get my wife to go along..
We stayed at Anderson Camp, in Eden, Idaho. It's at exit 182 off I84. It's a little east of Twin Falls. Pretty nice place, spaces are big enough for most RVs. With Good Sam card, it cost us $31.10 for full service, no cable TV but wifi, and cell service.
