Desert of Maine, just a bit west of Freeport, ME. Very interesting geological phenomenon and there is a nice little campground right next door.
Crater of Diamonds State Park, Murfreesboro, Arkansas If you find any diamonds on your dig, you keep 'em (we didn't). Great CG within the park.
Collier Memorial State Park, Chiloquin, Oregon. I almost hesitate to list this as it was perhaps the most peaceful, unspoiled park we've every been in. Within the park is a very interesting lumbering museum devoted to the logging industry of the Pacific Northwest.
