Update on Sunset Beach VA Eastern Shore

We drove thru Sunday, and they are rolling on this thing.
All of the water, sewer, and electric appears to be buried and covered. The pedestals are wired. The bath houses are up, and the south end where the seasonal sites were appear ready for use. That end is even paved already, and the green yuck used for grass generation is sprayed all over that area. The front area where boats were parked in front is mostly used for other things, and the berm is gone running east west . It was hard to tell how the sites were going to work, but they are back in allegedly. If you have reservations for July 4th you look safe. The new owners are local here to the MD Shore, they can get things done. Money helps haha.
  • Bucky, I agree It was a beautiful piece of land and it looks like they ruined it so far. The little saplings that they planted
when the do grow into trees will even make the sites smaller. but money rules.
  • This was my later post from May 28th on the subject of Sunset

Took the bikes with us last weekend and really got a better look at the layout than last time from the car in the rain.
You had better tell the truth about your rig size because the sites are SHORT. They have about half the place laid out now with tracks for your wheels to ride on and it really gives a better perspective of the place. This is going to be a treeless sardine can unless the sites not yet completed are going to be for the bigger units. There are some sites that I hope are for park model rentals because they are only 6 feet from each other, the other sites appear to be 20-25 feet wide but short and backing up to the the one behind for the most part. IE no overlap. You are going to have to park at the toll rest area across the street, no place for a TV it seems.
Such a shame, but people will flock there anyway. It was a beautiful piece of land, it could have been so much more.
  • we were staying at cherrystone the first 2 weeks in july. every year we would go to sunset beach for the beach and have lunch. now they wont let you in you must go to the office and pay $10 and they take you on a golf cart and pick you up when you call. supposedley the money can be used for food and drinks. as for the campground, its a parking lot. they just planted the trees so in 10 yeqars it might be nice but it will still be a parking lot. you cant even put out your awning no space. also no space to park on your site.

Ringer, When will you be in Cherrystone? We are there 20-27, Go every year, family has been going to CS for over 45 years.

From the pictures I saw of Sunset, there are no trees, just sapling around, No shade, We too were going to take a look, but we don't prefer to stay in campgrounds with no trees.

We will be going next week. Will miss you by a few days. Haven't been there since 2004 or 2005. Used to take our kids there a couple of times a year for several years while they were growing up. Now it's time to take the grand kids.:)

  • Great to have yet another choice on the Delmarva peninsula. Going to Cherrystone in August to meet up with some friends. We will definitely be checking it out. I'm sure it will be a first class operation if its like any of the other CG ventures the owners are involved in.
