US Wi-Fi Hot Spot.

Hello everyone;
We having been looking through magazines & web sites trying to figure out the best US Wi-Fi hot spot company to go with. Internet on the Go Mobile Hotspot (3G),T-Mobile 4G mobile hotspot, Virgin Sierra Wireless Overdrive Pro 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot, & so on. I value your advice on all the has been submitted to me in prior forums. I await your replies, thank you & have a great day.

  • I don't know if they will sell to a Canadian credit card, but if you use lots of data, Millenicom's Hotspot plan is a no contract, $69.99 per month for 20GB service on the Verizon network.
  • I have a T-Mobile SIM for when I'm in the US. Outside of larger cities, its usually 2G. I live with it, but its painful; at least its only $30/month pay-as-you-go.

    For half-decent coverage, definitely go with Verizon.
  • Any device will give you adequate service, the main consideration should be which carrier has the biggest/best footprint for your location. T-Mobile may be fine for someone in a city environment where they happen to have a presence, but T-Mobile or Virgin Mobile in a rural environment will leave you without service in a great many places. If you are talking overall US coverage, most RV'ers in the US would say Verizon offers the best solution. You'll find a 3G device or a 4G that will downgrade to 3G is the way to go...rural America is heading to 4G, but it has a looong way to go.....I can't speak for Canada.

  • We have the Virgin Mobile Sierra Wireless Overdrive hotspot which works like crap! Limited or no coverage, problems with their system which cut us off with no help from them. When I finally got to talk with someone they were out of the country and wouldn't comply with my request to let me talk to someone in the USA. And they couldn't fix the problem of their system saying my plan had expired when it had just been set up and worker for about 10 minutes. Very disappointed!
