Va i77 campground

We started our vacay two summers ago with a blow-out about 1 1/2 hrs from home. Got it fixed, then on to our first stop. Three days later, we pull out from first stop and had ANOTHER blowout. Fixed that up and went directly to a tire store and replaced the rest of them, then on to our 2nd stop. Pretty much took two days with the tires, but we had 45 days of vacation that year.

We have a prime button inside for our generator. You push it in the up position and hold it until the light comes on and then press start.

Well the update to the rant is....the nice folks at Barker tire care in Princeton WV took great care of me. The generator should just need primed. Not sure how yet but I know it's not hold the start button. The furnace I'm sure I'll figure out when home. We are all safe. 3 hours from home.

Wow this vacation just went down the toilet. Blew a tire so I'm sitting at the Princeton Walmart waiting till morning. I lost the furnace on this trip. My generator that I spent 900 bucks fixing won't start. I ran it down past a quarter tank. Just not getting fuel now. I hate to say this but I'm not so sure about this rv thing :(

Fancy Gap KOA as mentioned or Mayberry Campground in Mt Airy, NC. Mayberry is a Passport America campground if you are a member. Nothing fancy, but a nice place to stay to visit the Mt Airy area. Not too far off of I-77... a few miles.

Update time. We were cheap so we stayed at a flying j in Wytheville! Was tired and I really just ran out of steam right there after filling up. That was our first overnight at a gas station. Dear wife just gave me this look and well after quite an earful she slept very well. I did too.

The old Winnebago did great. Much better than I expected. The 460 chugged up the hills pulling our car like nothing. Down hills were a breeze. Mostly in third but I dropped to second once. Big trucks and wind pushed us a little bit not bad. Got to red gate and it's very nice. Grass is green and trees have leaves!!!!! Bad parts parking ticket in Savannah already :(.

I used to make a couple trips per year Dayton, OH to Charleston, SC. Overnighted at Ft. Chiswell and it was fine. Then I found Camp Creek State Park, Exit 20 !-77 in west Virgina, About 2 miles off the interstate, several sites are pull-thrus. Electric only, but several water points.
A 4-5 foot waterfall about 1/2 mile hike the road next to campground.

I would stay at the KOA in Fancy Gap, VA just off I-77 before you go down the mountain into NC. ITs an easy to get to from the highway and you are right at the Blue Ridge Parkway the campground buffs up to it. Not much else around there. A few service stations right at the highway and maybe one restaurant in fancy gap.

Just remember, when cresting the hill before a long down hill, slow down and drop a gear or two to let the engine do some of the braking. You can always upshift but once you get going it's hard to downshift.

Ok made reservations for red gate in savannah and will make my reservation in ft chiswell tomorrow maybe. It also just hit me I've never travelled more than 3 hours away in old travel trailer or this new to us motorhome. Lol time to freak out and make sure everything will be squared away!! Never taken motor home in mountains, never towed car and well at least I know the area.
