As much as we all spend on fancy trucks and RV's I find it ridiculous that any one fusses over a $5 fee regardless of what it's for. We have been paying the dog fee in VA for years, just part of the game. Now we'll pay the $3 more per night. Just part of the game. The same less than responsible people in CGs that don't pick up after or leash their dogs don't do it at home either. They are special, and we should recognize that.
You are right, I don't leash my dog at home. I don't have to. And personally I don't think it has anything to do with what people pay for their rigs. That comment opens a whole can of worms. Why you could carry it over to those that wally dock, stop in rest areas overnight or boondock in free areas. And there could even be more comparisons than that. What people spend on their rigs is no one elses business.
I can agree that those who don't like the dog fee, did not pay as a matter of principle. However the amount of money in question was negligible in the grand financial scheme of camping which is I believe Bucky's point.
The bottom line for me is I want to go camping. Tell me what it cost and I will pay for it. I really don't care how the cost is derived or where the money actually goes. I want to bring my dog and I understand I may have to pay extra to do so.
VA has just shuffled the deck and eliminated the fee, net result is higher prices for all, which I guess makes the dog fee protesters happy/satisfied?
Not sure if the consider the fee elimination a victory or not since the final result cost more?
At the end of the day I still plan to use VA parks with my dog regardless of the fees involved.
You're right, it is a matter of principle. Where does it stop?
