At our upstate NY cottage, we do leave the heat on at a low (50℉) setting, but we also fill the traps with enough antifreeze to displace the water just in case the heat should go out during cold weather. We do monitor the inside temp from our phones, but it isn't always possible to get someone there quickly if needed.
