Suggestions on decent AND cheap places to eat on or near the Vegas Strip. Thanks.

We used to go often, but has been several years since our last trip. Most all larger casinos on the strip and the casinos downtown have good buffets with lots of variety. Used to be partial to the Golden Nugget buffet downtown as they had all you could eat shrimp. When we first started going the typical buffet was $1.99/breakfast, $2.99/lunch, and $3.99/dinner. No more. Prices are much higher, but still cheaper than most restaurants on the strip unless you want fast food.

Used to get an after hours steak dinner (good steak, baked potato, salad, rolls) at Binion’s downtown for $2.99.

Seems like it was long time ago that you visited. Those are 1980s prices.
  • we like the buffets, but we eat a late lunch to get the cheaper price for what is basically the same food they will serve at supper.
The past few years, we've been staying out at Railroad Pass Casino, in their parking lot, and eating there. They have a buffet..just search RR Pass Casino buffet and you will find the prices...different prices for prime rib night or seafood night, etc.
  • The Peppermill (across from the Stratosphere) is a classic and a must!
It is relatively affordable, eating in Vegas isn't cheap.

X2 Golden Nugget Buffet. It is always good.

Some of the older hotels downtown still have specials. No specific recommendations, just walk around and see what you find.
  • Been a few years since I was there last, but circus circus had a very good steakhouse restaurant where you could get great steaks at moderate prices.

  • You have to decide if you want GOOD food, or CHEAP food. Some of the best restaurants in America are there on the strip. Haven't found them to be cheap, though.
