We were there last month. Everything is free and we parked behind the Jefferson Memorial and walked. As stated, check with your congressman if you want to go to the White House or the Capital etc. the holocaust museum was not busy but I hear it can be and they may have tickets available there as well. We stayed at Cherry Hill and loved it.
