I've driven by there many times.

Google's street view shows the access road with a locked gate on it, a short ways past the outhouse. I can't find any way to even get to those roads.

We stop in that area often but have not hit very many places yet. I'll check out next time over there. We usually stay at Wish-Push if there is an opening. They do have weird geese though. They yack at each other all night if any full moon. Strange to be going asleep and hearing them.

Wish I knew how to do a shot like you did but since I don't, try this:

I see I got the first-turn-off-903 road name wrong- it isn't "More", it's "Morel". Even worse, Google Earth has it as double-r "Morrel".

Anyway, go to Google Earth and type in "Morrel Road, Cle Elum, Washington" and it'll take you right to the first turn. Pan out some and you'll see that Morrel/Baker goes right down to the river- gravel pit is clearly visible. Woods to the south of the pit is camping area.

It's actually pretty nice- I stopped there once for "an overnight" and got such a beautiful spot right next to the river that I stayed there for a week!

On edit- found a pic that shows how open it is...don't seem to have one of The Primo Waterfront spot, though.

Francesca Knowles, I tried those L&L and google maps to me 1/2 way to Enumclaw. I think we are using different formats in L&L.

The area you are talking about is past or before Wish-Push campground?

I remember hwy 903 because of the posted speed limit sign for snowmobiles. :)

You know a lot of the sites listed are actually on federal land. State has leased some of these areas. State is enforcing Discover Pass on lands they do not own.

No clue what that is, but if you're looking for a place to overnight in the Cle Elum area, there's a little known bit of Forest Service land right along the Cle Elum River, a mile or so south of the dam. Access is via a left turn at More road, about six miles north of Cle Elum along Hwy 903. Short hop and then a right turn...follow that road all the way through the housing development and down a hill through/past a gravel pit- wooded area beyond is USFS land. Free spots and lots of room. And good fishing when the river's open!

Since the "Discover pass" thing came about we've been trying to "discover" camping places listed here. Really haven't found anything exciting yet, but many to check out on list. Maybe the "discover pass" thing was good I never thought about Fish and Wildlife places before I had to buy the pass.

I tried gathering all the places to go in or state, where you could legally camp and have spread sheet a spread sheet saved on computer. Turned out way to big of project with so many places to go.

There is a sani-can type station. East of there was a paint ball course.
I believe there is a spring that creates the green spot.
South of here, about 300 feet is the Yakima firing range. You do not want to go there!

But marker for that is on North side of I-90. That is why I thought it was something different but after reading their driving directions they list and following them on the map, I think you are right. I think they have the marker in the wrong spot. Or maybe the actual "camp" is at the marker and the field with parking and outhouse is just what I'm seeing.
