Walt Disney/Universal since Covid re-opening

Has anyone been to either of these two Florida parks since the re-opening?

What are the crowds like?

Is it hard to get tickets?

Are all of the rides in all the parks open, or are there many that are still closed due to social distancing?
  • Im glad i cancled my october trip this year. I might give it a go next year.
  • We have reservations late Sept/early Oct. We are watching closely how things are progressing. Relatives and friends both tell us that the news is alarming but they have not been affected or know anyone that has been in their areas of Florida(panhandle and Orlando areas). Luckily with the way reservations are handled by Disney, we have until 5 days before we are to arrive to cancel without a charge. It might be enjoyable to visit the parks with such low crowds and waits.
Disney is the big player but Universal opened first and there have been no stories that it has had any problems. Universal has even kept their Halloween celebration(Horror Nights) on track where Disney cancelled theirs(Not So Scary Mickey Halloween).
  • Haven't been myself - but I'm active on a few different Disney boards. What's been reported above has generally been true (with the exception of Hollywood Studios, which has seen more crowding issues during its reopening). They are restricting park capacity to 25%, which means you have to have a park reservation prior to entry - availability of those is mixed at this point. You can only enter one park per day, health checks are done upon entry, and masks are required except when in a relaxation station or when eating/drinking. Even with eating and drinking, you have to be stationary to do so - you can't be walking around eating without a mask on. Many other precautions have been taken with distancing, plexiglass dividers, etc. No parades, but they are doing random 'cavalcades' with characters traveling through the streets.

Florida is a rough place to be right now, but Disney seems to be among the safer places you could be in that state.
  • So far reports are small crowds and 15 min max wait times for rides. And masks for all, but they do have spots to take them off and relax a bit. I would think no characters meet's and no parades, but cant confirme that.
  • No I did not realize the article was dated. Ty for point that out.

I still would not place myself in harms way by going now.
  • "I love Disney, but I couldn't imagine going to Disney in the summer, even more so during a Pandemic in a state where the virus is running rampant."

I couldn't agree more. Why tempt fate when there are so many other places you could go to properly socially distance.
  • We haven't gone, but have friends that are there now. Apparently, it is pretty quiet. We've seen ride lines that are empty. I think they said their longest wait for a ride was maybe 15 minutes.

I love Disney, but I couldn't imagine going to Disney in the summer, even more so during a Pandemic in a state where the virus is running rampant.

I don't know why anyone would go there, virus on not... but to answer your question, people we know when there last week and reported that there was no one there.... sort of like the Griswalds on Summer Vacation when they visited walley World.

You do know the article you linked is almost a year old(Sept 2019).

On most of the blogs, they are citing low attendance and low wait times. The biggest issue that has been reported concerns the new reservation system for tickets and entry dates. Do a lot of study of both before making a decision.
As someone who has gone many times over the years, I was surprised that I can still get reservations at the campground(Ft. Wilderness)for many upcoming dates.
