This is the Horseshoe lake county park in southern Kitsap county and yes the beach was closed there and will probably so till after this coming weekend. It is thought that it is a norovirus and the Kitsap county health department has taken numerous samples and sent them to the CDC. The CDC can actually take the virus and compare it to all the stool samples that have been submitted by those folks that have gotten sick and find where it came from. It is suspected that some momma let her child go into the water with a load in its diapers. None of the other parts of the lake were affected and the level is now back to normal.
It is possible that the beach will be reopening after the weekend. We have over 1500 visitors to that park on any summer weekend. As a member of the county park advisory board,I'm very proud of our local county parks. Check out our Kitsap County website and see what we have to offer and come see us.
We've got lot's of really great kraft breweries also.
