Just a few miles north of is Hoffmaster SP. Trees, beaches, sand dunes, a lazy river and only a few minutes drive to downtown Holland for tourist-trap activities or Stenberg road for a big shopping mall and other national brand stores.
Hoffmaster is right next to Muskegon (there are a lot of state parks along Lake Michigan, you're excused for mixing them up ;)) and it's one of our all time favorites. Sites on the first loop have a short walk to the campground beach, which is separate from the crowded public beach and the day use area. Speaking of hiking, there are miles of trails running through thousands of acres of dunes and woods in the park. Hoffmaster is also just a couple of miles down the road from Mount Garfield, site of a yearly AMA national hillclimb.
