We live in the cold high mountains of NC and snow bird for 5 months every winter in Florida.
I shut my water off and drain the entire system. You need low point drains for this. Any place where there is the slightest sag that doesn't drain is liable to freeze and break, (from experience)
Shut off and drain your water heater
I then put antifreeze in all the traps.
Make sure all your faucets are open
The day we leave, I spray the entire house with spider spray. Otherwise you'll have a house full of spiders when you return.
We have never had a problem with the dish washer or washing machine. Evidently their sumps are made frost proof.
Make sure anything you have that will hold water is disconnected and emptied (like filters, etc)
