The other thing that I have recently done that I have found useful is setting up internet cameras. In the beginning they were just for security, but I have since added BIG analog thermometers in their viewing area to check on temps. Also I have setup flood alarms and programed the cameras to notify me if there is a loud alarm sound.
Anytime I want I can now check on the place from the convenience of the RV or my cell phone. If there is a break in or flood the cameras will record and send me notification of the incident.
