Really great posts! Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.
It's not that I am some purist and don't enjoy creature comforts. On our last big trip with friends in the 5th Wheel, we stayed more than a couple of nights in an RV park. If someone is full timing or has health issues it only makes sense to always have FHU and lots of creature comforts.
It just seems attitudes have changed. When we go to state parks, in our old TC, those parks that used to stay full, now have lots of empty spaces. It just seems like people avoid them because they don't have FHU.
We like to trail ride with horses, and one of the things that caught me off guard was asking a friend why they didn't like going to a certain horse RV park, and they told me, because they only have 30 amp hook ups. The other thing was some posts I saw from some newbies, who are nervous or can't understand how someone would go out with only a couple of 12v batteries and 40 gallons of water for a weekend. In my mind that is the norm and an RV park is the exception. It's not about a right way or a wrong way to do it, it's just different. The one thing we all have in common is we all love to RV.
I really agree with PawPaw_n_Gram that more young people need to get involved. The cost can be a factor, but pop up trailers are still cheap, but that means RVing like most of us did as kids.
I have what can be at times a high pressure job that requires me to always be connected. But, when I finally get a weekend away, the computer stays home and the phone stays off. Have I missed some "important" phone calls and emails, ya, were some folks upset, ya, did life go on without me, ya.
