Horseshoe curve is a great railroad sight near Altoona. It's in a relaxing rural setting where you can have a picnic and watch trains go buy. We always stop there with the family when in the area, the boys and I love to watch trains.
I've been to the Flight 93 memorial years ago when it wasn't quite finished yet and it was worth the visit then. I'm sure it would be even better by now.
There's also Raystown Lake if you like boating.
