What to do between San Antonio and Carlsbad Caverns
I was thinking of visiting Carlsbad Caverns when heading west from San Antonio but the 7 hour drive is a bit long to handle in one shot. Do you know of any interesting stops between the two?

Balmorhea SP is a nice stopover on IH 10. Depending on the time of year, it's the best swimming hole in Texas. The birds and fish are interesting there.
