What's the price "tipping point" for you?

I've payed $50+ because it was someplace we've really wanted to be and the RV park was really nice. On average I'd say we pay $35-$40 for most private CGs, under $20 for state and county parks.

Would I pay $60+? I might, it all depends.

But it's a different story camping. I will gladly pay $25 a night if I get shore power(just to not have generators near by). When dry camping at forest service campgrounds, with nothing more than a picnic table and fire ring, some of the per night costs have gotten up to about $24 per night and that is too much for me.

x2 except for the dry camping, I don't pay much attention to the rate until it goes over $26/night. I also pay the dog fees without a hiccup. I'm not staying there to save money, I'm staying there because I enjoy the campground/area, so the cost isn't that big of an issue.

All dependent on location. We just recently spent $70 a night but it put us within 15 miles of the nephew's soccer tournament and I have another where we will pay $80 a night but again it puts me real close to an event I want to attend.
It used to be a 50% point for me. If the campsite was 50% of the cost of the closet acceptable (DW standards not mine) hotel/motel than we took the RV. Now the DW and myself can't hardly fathom the idea of staying in a hotel/motel.

Haven't done a lot of hotels lately have you? $100 a night generally gets you a Best Western or something similar. A Courtyard by Marriott, my idea of a 3 star property is generally around $150. In season, Four star resorts are going to run $200 a night and up. Like anything, location drives prices, but most of the comments about high RV park rates are for locations that also have demand for hotel space and consequently high prices as well. The guy with the 50% guideline is pretty close to accurate in many instances.

Location plays a big part. If I'm near the coast and want a nice site with a view I'll pay for it. Camping locally, usually at state parks keeps the cost down. I don't need lots of amenities, I just want to camp. I have found a COE campground that I really like, and I'm heading back there again this week, at $32 a night. That's high for me, but the campground is great and it's not far so I don't spend as much on gas.

Location and destination are more critical to me than price. If the CG is convenient to where I want/need to be I pay the rate. If I'm lucky enough to have a state park in the area, great I'll take the savings.
However if a resort type place is more convenient, that's fine as well I'll pay and enjoy the amenities.
I won't stay far way from my desired location just for the savings. If I end up driving back and forth a longer distance there is no savings.
O.C. MD CG's that are in prime locations are $70 a night or so. Sure I could stay 10-20 miles further out and pay $50.00 or so, But I would no longer be in a prime time location. I'd be a few minutes/miles further out. In which case the convenience of prime time is worth the price.
On the other hand if I have no agenda and just want to camp, I have no problem entertaining myself and enjoying nature at a in a non resort, more remote area and paying less.
Luckily my RV has wheels and I have the choice to enjoy it all. At the end of the day CG fees have little impact on my camping decisions. It's more about location/destination and convenience.

The premise of the question is flawed. All real estate is location, location, location. I'm happy with a $60 campground in VT in the fall and a $200/night hotel in Manhattan. I like Hampton Inn for a consistently clean no frills hotel. I paid $45 fot that room in 1992. I have $115 for that room now in most places. I think some of the griping here is because RV'ers aren't staying in hotels to see the inlfation there unless they travel for business. I consider $100 about right for a clean hotel as an interstate stop while traveling. $45 is about normal for a campground with hook-ups. Both price points will vary by location so I have guidelines, not price caps in my head.

We like to stay at places that are "affordable" like everybody else but location, connivence and our physical condition play a big part in how much is too much. We prefer to stay at state parks if we can fit into a site, being 38' doesn't always work to our advantage though. Unless we have the grand kids with us we avoid parks with pools and stuff like that, we don't need to spend extra on things we're not going to use anyway.

There's a lot to be said for staying at a place with hook ups and convenience just to be comfortable. It all boils done to personal preference. We'll spend the money if we really feel the need to and we enjoy all the "bells & whistles" when we choose to go that route.

I will say we stayed at the KOA in Petaluma CA two or three years ago, it has all the creature comforts, we enjoyed their pool and their San Francisco city tour a great deal, to us that was money well spent. Not "cheap" mind you but for what we received we felt we paid a good/fair price. The few KOA's we've stayed at are very well managed.
