Yes indeedy. The vitriolic, eyes-bugged-out reaction from behemoth owners here aside, the fact is that neither park roads nor park campsites were designed to accommodate big RVs. Their presence has forced park authorities to divert scarce funds to retrofitting campgrounds and road maintenance (the big rigs really chew up the roads and parking lots).
To put it another way, semi-trucks and trailers are also banned from most park roads, for similar reasons. The infrastructure can't accommodate them.
I would support the admittance of big rigs in the parks if it was absolutely necessary for people to enjoy the parks. But it's not. They can cough up their $125 a night to park in a slab park in a gateway city and then drive into the park in a car (a toad, or a rental car, which if they can afford a behemoth, they can certainly also afford).
What many people here have been unable to fathom is that the presence of big rigs in a campground that was not designed for them detracts from everyone else's experience. Or maybe they comprehend that but are unwilling to admit it.
