When Is The Florida Migration At Its Peak?

When is the busiest time for folks going south to FL and returning north from FL?

  • The busiest week here in the Keys is between Christmas and New Years.
The migration starts in early November and then ends in early April.

  • I can tell you when they all leave!

    May.

Like clockwork, like someone flips a switch, the temperature in Florida goes from livable to sweltering hot humid 90's May 1st and the Snowbird's take flight back up North. :C

... could never understand this???? You don't have to be 'home' to file taxes.
  • I don't think there is any set time. Folks go to Florida for Winter, and come home in Spring. Then in Spring, you've got approximately 6 weeks of Spring Breakers. After that, you've got the Summer vacationers. Seems there is ALWAYS a migration to Florida any any time!
  • I leave Canada in mid-November and head back in early March. The 120 day thing gets in the way each and every year.

In 2017 I deliberately altered my route south to give me an "extra" day in Canada. I may well do the same thing on my way north.
  • From Art Basel to Miami Music Week. (December to April 1)

The biggest concentration is Jan, Feb and March.
  • Campgrounds where we stayed in January told us that they were more full in February. I think April 1 starts the trip home. Income taxes are due usually around April 15.

From Canada, mostly November 1 = first wave headed south, and then usually between December 25th and January 1st = second wave headed south.
Coming back usually after March 31, or after April 30, as far as I can tell. Tax season deadline for filing is end of April up here, and that may affect some return decisions (no pun intended).
Disclosure: I live in a border town.
