- Roy_LynneExplorerThanks so much. We plan to be gone for most of the winter and spring so our tank wont last that long.

We carry a couple extra 5 gallon "water cooler" bottles. That's our drinking and wash water. Easy enough to haul and carry, and more durable than clear plastic jugs. Many Walmarts and grocery stores now have bottled water refill stations, but you can also refill at a well or spigot without needing a thief attachment.
We have (6) 3.5gallon waterbrick "jugs". They stack real nice under the tonneau cover, and are interlinked. - lane_hogExplorer IIWe carry a couple extra 5 gallon "water cooler" bottles. - toedtoesExplorer IIIAt least in the west, ask before filling at a public campground. Many have limited potable water access and that water needs to supply every one staying in the campground, not just one person's 100 gallon tank.
- hotjag1Explorer IIIf we need water during our travels, most often we pull into a state park and fill up. Most of their day-use areas have a water spigot. As another poster said, make sure you have a "water thief" so that you can use any type of spigot connection.
Other times we have found water fill-ups at truck stops at no charge or a small fee. - 2oldmanExplorer II

Just one?
for out 30 gallon tank the weight is like having one extra person in the car. - dieseltruckdrivExplorer IIAm I the only one that reads a post title and thinks of a clever answer like "...in low spots?"
There is probably a good reason I don't post a lot!
That being said, we leave home full of water also. When we need more, all of the answers so far have worked in the past. - LwiddisExplorer IIRule for boondocking in the West...dump and fill whenever available. You’ll be fine.
- cewillisExplorerI've found that many service stations will also allow a fill. Purchase first can't hurt.
- OasisbobExplorerWell............. to be honest we fill ours before we leave home. I mean this is what the tank is for. For out 30 gallon tank the weight is like having one extra person in the car. No biggie
