Where to get away from Minnesota Winters

Anyplace south of I-10 is the general rule of thumb. When we were traveling fulltime, we wintered from southern CA, Yuma AZ, Valley of the Sun (Phoenix area), Tucson, Rio Grande Valley in TX., the Gulf Coast area from TX on east. Fell in love with Rockport TX. Also a winter in the Florida area, which generally is more expensive than other areas if your not careful.

The other answer would be to keep going south until you are warm enough and have enough sunshine!!

Kerrville, Texas (The Hill Country) is very nice. Lots of RV parks there and if you like it warmer, you can go to South Texas area with a short drive over to the Gulf of Mexico.

Everything is relative, and it depends on your interests. That being said; the Southeastern states are close together, have excellent choices for food, shopping, weather, shoreline, historical, etc. The Gulf states have a regional flavor that transcends everything else, and very historical, unique economy, and shorelines of Gulf, rivers, and swamps. The Southwest has the desert, the mountains, the wide open spaces, the unique food, and interesting people. Each areas have RV parks which cater to retirees, and you might find bargains for a monthly stay. I would not plan more than a month at a place, because you want to explore alternatives. Perhaps concentrating on a geographical area of the country each of the first few years, and then narrow it down after that.

But it's not the warmest in the winter. Where I live in FL the average Jan high is 74, low of 64. I see Yuma is at 70 and low of 46--brrrr.

Thank you all for these suggestions. We are getting so excited to venture out in our new home. Never drove anything so big so we are a little scared. Are they hard to get use to?
