We have visited the Lafayette area several times and thoroughly enjoy it.
The locals are friendly, the food is terrific and the prices are fair.
We have stayed at several GCs and like Poches Fish and Camp in Breaux Bridge.
Visit Shadow on the Teche in New Iberia. Tour the Tabasco factory.
New Iberia has a great butcher shop as do many of the towns. Visit the Konriko factory.
There some nice festivals, church festivals with great church lady food. Go during Mardis Gras as the small towns have family oriented festivals with music that are civilized. We don't even bother with New Orleans anymore.
