Willow Tree is nice if you prefer private campgrounds.Nicely landscaped, room between sites,a nice lake with paved trail, swimming pool ( in season)exercise room. Some sites have their own hot tub. It's about 10 miles west of North Myrtle Beach. We paid $75 a night for a site with a hot tub in October 2012.
Seems kind of high being 10 miles away from the ocean.
Agree.
And IMOP. pointless. If I was going to stay that far from the beach. I wouldn't go.
I was in that area during the holiday season. OL is and always will be my first choice. I took a long walk and walked thru all the CG's north of OL, including the state park. OL was the busiest out of all of them. I DID notice that Lakewood is upgrading the sites along the water front with concrete pads and patio. The sites look very nice. It is a shame that half of them face away from the dunes.
I took a drive to Willow Tree and spent a good hour there and got a personal tour from management. The closest beach is N Myrtle or Little River which is about 12 miles away. Willow tree is neat as a pin, the sites are very big and offers plenty to do. They are in the boonies, so you have to drive for shopping, but they have a nice store at the CG. They are presently booked with all the snow birds. If I could not get a decent site at a beach front CG in that area, I would not hesitate to go to WT. I may stay there next Christmas as it is too windy at the beach and WT has a nice lake to fish at or take a long walk around. Management was very nice. You do pay extra if you want your own hot tub right on your site. :)
