Where to stay in Myrtle Beach

We're MBTP fans where we currently spend our fall and winters. Two weeks ago I rode down the beach and thru Apache on the golf cart and found it to be a decent campground. It does have much better direct views of the ocean without the dune banks that the others have.

Although it would not be our first choice, I would certainly consider camping there if MBTP was full.

When we rode through Apache, we found it to be different. Unless you were up on the paved roads and away from the beach, then your sites and roads between there were dirt and dusty. The covers over the pcinic tables would be ok, but when we went through, they were about in shambles. And yes, the sites were close to each other. Would hate to be there when it rains as there was not much grass. The pool was very lackluster as well. It appeared to like an old rectangle one if I remember correctly. The size of the beach and the pier was cool though.

The owners of Apache are the owners of the new Cypress one.

I found the oceanside sites look a little bigger, bathhouses look much better, and not a single golf cart seen when we did our drive-thru the last Easter we were there. Do not like the golf cart yahoos driving around with their radios blaring or kids that don't look old enough to drive a car driving them around. Add the fact that the ocean and pool are in close proximity and not a hike to one or the other.

That's what many of us Ocean Lakers love!

You are of course right. while some don't go to MB for the beach. The beach is the only reason we go. In fact. If we could find a quieter beach with a nice CG. We wouldn't go to MB at all. Problem is. Between MB and the OBX, there is only ONE oceanfront CG, and it is on TopSail Island. And it is super small. We do like it though. But the kids want a pool. It does not have one.

You are going to love Willow Tree. The 75.00 price quoted above was one with your own hot tub on it. The other sites are not that expensive and are just as nice. We have stayed many times and enjoyed the quite surroundings and being able to walk around the lake. That time of the year the water will probably be chilly but there is a hot tub at the pool area that might be working.

We will be there again this summer, can't wait.
