Other than a indicator light for the pump switch, the pump draws "zero" electricity when idle.
My evidence is strictly observational. We attend the same event for ten days every year without electricity. We always go in with fully charged batteries. I have learned that leaving the pump switch on 24/7 causes a noticeable difference in how many days my batteries last. Therefore, I no longer do it. I have not as yet done any troubleshooting or investigation of the system to discover the reason behind it.
