I recommended shutting off ALL water supplies when not in the rig and when sleeping - whether on the water pump supply or the campground water supply.
If you ever looked in behind stuff in the motorhome to see all that thin looking plastic water tubing running everywhere - you'd begin to appreciate the habit of leaving no in-coming water supply connected to those lines any more than absolutely necessary. :)
Very valid points, and make damn sure you put a pressure regulator in line too before turning the water on, to keep things at 40-45 psi if you are on City Water.
The only reason to turn the water pump on is to pressurize the water lines when you need water shortly. Turn it off it you don't need water immediately or are finished up with using water from tap, shower, toilet, what ever.
