RCWannabe: I have to agree with Wavesprite to check your reservation sites frequently. We'll generally start a couple of months in advance monitoring the campgrounds and how sites are filling up and then try to wait until the last moment to make the commitment, if we feel we must. Our area of travel is different (more southeastern states), but the theory is the same. Our best investment, since we don't have smart phones, is the tablet with wifi capabilities. One can drive and the other check for open campsites. Worked great for us throughout Florida. Even got a last minute reservation. We had a number of parks we wanted to see, but not in any special order. Reservations or lack of full parks set the directions. We prefer state, federal or COE parks.
Hope this helps.
