I see a lot of comments stating reservations are made, do you need to make reservations for most campgrounds to get in? I know that guarantees it, but are they often booked full outside of long weekends in the summer?
Just planning a large trip and have not booked anything yet, trip starts in March and ends in August. How worried should we be about making bookings in advance, can I expect to find sites without booking from March to end of June?
Sorry, we are going to be moving around in AZ, UT, CO, CA for that timeframe.
Thanks.
I have to admit that I have never been to any of those states so I can't speak from experience about those places.
We have to make our reservations early. We both work and don't have flexible schedules. We have to request time off of work 6 months in advance or we don't get our time off. So if our work time off is July 1st -8th, that's when we're going to go on vacation, or we don't go. So we had better get a site exactly where we want to be! Also, if we want to stay in a prime location, those sites fill early. Being in Michigan, anywhere on the water books early, and let's be frank here...why would we stay anywhere but on the water in this state.
If we were retired and could have a leisure schedule about it, we'd do things differently. But, it's basically required for us to plan in advance.
If you want to go to a prime location, at prime time, I think most places would require a reservation.
