I agree with Alabama Jim.
Responses to someone's woes with a hint of sarcasm, is counter productive. The person asking needs help, and they invariably come to the forum for answers. . . although sometimes dismissed as "someone who doesn't know what he's doing".
This happens too often and overlooked by the powers-that-be.
The problem is often brought on by those who are "residents" of the forum and followed by sycophants who blindfoldedly agree with everything these residents say.
These (residents) who are pretty well caught up in their philosophy: "been there done that" and no one else know any better is devastating to someone's self confidence.
This is where most participants failed. Being direct and assertive in offering answers is OK but telling someone off and comparing him/her to a dodo doesn't serve any purpose. Dodoes have been extinct, let's keep it that way.
Welcoming attitude and willingness to help have no substitute.
