The most recent price listed at RVParkReviews was $38 for last month. That might be with a KOA VIK card discount though. The other FHU park listed for Holbrook shows a $35 price, and a description that doesn't sound a lot different than the KOA.
Most KOA's (if not all) have various types of sites with various prices.
Yes, KOA's are generally higher than the norm for the equal type of sites. But KOA's usually offer more than just a site, like many other places. Now those extra amenities doesn't appeal to all. But for those with families, it more than likely will. I think location and availability of other parks also come into play with the prices. As the OP mentioned it fit their schedule, I take from that, that there must not of been any other options in the area or any that are at least half way decent and cheaper. If you are the only one in town (or the better option), then you can charge more. Then again, people who like KOA's usually can rely on them. We have not been to one that has been bad. They all have been usually ok and about of equal quality. Prices have been different. But don't think we've paid under $40-50 at any of them. $47 for a quiet, clean FHU campground is about average here on the east coast. There are some that may be lower and plenty that are higher.
