Wildfire west of Bend, Oregon

I don't know where to post this......BUT. There is a wildfire (actually 2 that have merged) east of Bend, Oregon. For those of you that might be planning to camp at Tumalo State Park, you may want to double check. The fire was first reported around 2:00 and jumped to 250 acres within a couple of hours. Here's a link on the fire from the sheriff's office: LINK. They are evacuating people out of the area.........it doesn't look good, folks.....it's awfully early in the year for this!!!
  • Steve...i tried sending you a pm with our phone #..... a notice said "service unavailable". I'll keep trying. Praying they stop the fires.
  • I might take you up on that as I am thinking of pulling my travel trailer and rafts out. For now, we are good as the fire is going SE, but a change for winds out of the S/SW is forecast for tonight which will put us in the bulls eye. Should be a briefing shortly so hope to know more soon. My guess is that with all the resources they threw on it last night (love that MD80 flying low over the house), they will have it tidied up shortly.

  • No news yet this morning. NOTICE: Anyone needing a place to park their RV or a bed, we have room for RVs and a guest room. :( :(
  • The fire actually started NW of Bend, on the west side of Tumalo Reservoir, and has been moving SE (toward western Bend). We are at the edge of the evacuation zone in the Tumalo area. Very smoky. I suggest avoiding the area for a few days until things settle down.

p.s.; Inciweb linked earlier is good, but for more details, go to KTVZ
  • The combined fires are being call "Two Bulls Fire" and here is the official web site (Inciweb) for monitoring all fires. It's updated often. Hope they get it contained fast.

  • Em, as I recall that's east of you, hopefully the wind will blow fire away from you.
There has been a couple fires in eastern Washington already too.
A (very) wet spring, then warm weather....
