Wiliamsburg KOA

I was on their reservation site and was noticing they had a couple of different 50/30 amp pull-thru full hook up site. One was located on the "Quiet side" and was for "large rigs". It was also $25 less per night.

Just wondering if anyone had noticed the difference (if any) between the two. Looking at early July so shaded area would be great. $25/night less is very GREAT.

Thanks
  • American heritage no transport that I am aware unless you call a taxi but I may be wrong
  • Call American Heritage and ask. There may be. Colonial Williamsburg has RV parking.

I don't recall that option from a stay last summer.
  • We like American Heritage better. Our first few trips we stayed first at the "lower" KOA which is the Williamsburg one. It was decent. The next time we stayed at the Colonial KOA before it became a KOA. Thought it was a little nicer.

We discovered American Heritage which is a little further west between I-64 and US 60 and was much nicer so than either of the KOA's and is our campground of choice when we visit the area.

With the exception of Disney World and possibly Disneyland, I'm not aware of any campground that shuttles their customers around to sightsee. Colonial Williamsburg's shuttle service only runs around Colonial Williamsburg and is part of the ticket price. The historic triangle from Jamestown to Williamsburg to Yorktown is 26 miles long. Enterprise rents cars and they'll pick you up at the RV park and drive you back when you turn the rental back in.
For most RVers, either the campground is the attraction and they don't leave it, or if they want to explore, they pull a toad behind the MH or pull a trailer or 5er behind their car or truck. If this trip becomes more than a one time shot, you should consider your options.
  • The City of Williamsburg does run a bus around the area but I am not sure that it goes out to Toano where American Heritage is. It may, though the campground is a distance north of Richmond Road that the bus may run on.

As far as campgrounds with shuttle services. In other areas some do - Cherry Hill in MD to D.C. for one.

And as I said earlier - Colonial Williamsburg has RV parking - plenty of room for any size RV.
