Williamsburg VA for Easter 2015

A few years back we stayed at American Heritage and it was a real nice place to stay ... And I also believe that they have upgraded even more since my stay... Colonial Williamsburg and Bush Gardens were all within 20 minutes...

City Campground in Newport News, VA, about ten miles from Colonial Williamsburg. We stayed there three nights in September. Beautiful sites in the woods and spaced well apart. Not all sites are long enough for you, so tell them about your length requirement. (We had 35 foot fiver.)

We've stayed at the campground at Pottery Village (or whatever it is called now) and it wasn't bad. Many years ago we stayed at a campground in VA Beach that ended up being right at the end of the Naval Air Station runway, and military jets were flying right over our heads and the noise was deafening and scared the******out of our young girls at the time.

Same here. Stayed there for a week back in 2010. Very nice place, and a great location.

+1 on Newport News Park. Nice wooded sites, pretty convenient location to Williamsburg, also close to Yorktown. We've stayed there a few times, for spring break a few years ago, one of our favorites in the area. Depending on when Easter is you may hit the season opening of Busch Gardens which is between the park and Williamsburg. That early in the season it's not crowded and I think they usually have some admission discount deals.

Newport News Park

Luckily, Williamsburg Pottery CG is closed. The place was a dump 10 years ago when I drove thru it. One of those places where the speed limit into the park is 10 MPH and the limit leaving the park is 60+. Or should be. I've stayed at both KOAs and American Heritage and AH wins by a mile. The KOAs are nicely wooded, but the sites are grass which turns into mud when it rains. I never tried Anvil because of the trains.
Plenty of parking at Colonial Williamsburg and shuttles running you to the main building from the lots and also driving around the outside of Colonial Williamsburg, stopping at several places for you to hop on and off. All free with your admission ticket. Wear comfortable shoes. Lots of walking. You're also close to Jamestown and Yorktown. That's why its called the historic triangle. Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown are the actual sites. Jamestown settlement is a mockup of what they believe it looked like. All are worth a visit, but Jamestown settlement is owned by Virginia and requires separate admission. IMHO, plan on at least a week to see all the sites. I'll be visiting again this coming spring.

Stayed at American Heritage three months ago. Enjoyed the atmosphere and would be happy to return.

We use American Heritage often for weekend trips up to Bush Gardens and Water Country. This summer they paved all the roads. They did a nice job.

EVERYTHING near the ocean in Virginia Beach is at the end of the Naval Air Station runway.

We stayed at American Heritage for a week in September. The park is very nice and well kept. The restrooms were spotless and they pick up trash at your site every day. Our 5th wheel is only 34 ft, but we saw quite a few larger motorhomes there that were in your size range.
From there it is easy to get to Colonial Williamsburg. The campground is on a side road off route 607 close to Interstate 64. We took the main road Route 607 to route 60. It takes you right to the Colonial Parkway and then you only go about a mile to get to the visitors center. Lots of places to eat on Route 60 also some outlet stores. Diesel fuel was also pretty reasonable on route 60.
