Willowtree Resort --wristbands??

This would really put a damper on me staying there. I have visited as a guest and it is a nice resort, but the wrist band...????:h

"Registration/Passes:
It is the responsibility of the guest to provide correct information at registration.
All guests, visitors, boats, and vehicles, including golf carts and motorcycles, must be registered at the office and obtain the appropriate pass.
Wrist bands are required from the Wednesday before Memorial weekend thru and including Monday, Labor Day.
Any vehicle without the required pass may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Any guest without the required wrist band will be considered unregistered and in violation of the registration policy"

I would pick somewhere else other than the KOA there. We like KOA's, but we found that the one there is high priced compared to some of the other parks that are actually on the beach.

Resorts require wrist bands when the local kids become a problem sneaking in to use the pool, start trouble, etc.

Doesn't bother me as a. it shows me they a. are addressing a problem b. less people in the pool, etc.

The Sanibel Island resort we stayed in recently required wristbands but only for beach/pool access.

It's a part of their exclusivity marketing. Personally I prefer state parks and if that isn't an option, I'll find a KOA or county/city park.

If you want something with beach, try Huntington Beach State Park.

If you don't want to be on the beach, give Cypress Camping Resort a try. We checked it out a couple years ago after they opened up. I'm sure it's even better now. It's on the Intacoastal Waterway...

We have stayed at Willow Tree twice. Both times found it to be an awesome campground. When we stayed wristbands had not yet been a policy. Obviously there has been an issue and they are taking the action to eliminate something that more than likely was an irritant to those people camping. The place is top notch and I would have no problem wearing a band.

I just called Willow Tree and the office was already closed for the day. Rather than start a bunch of rumors I thought I would get the story directly from the campground.

Their website does state:
"Wrist Bands: Wrist bands are required to be visibly worn from May 15th thru September 15th."

I'm curious why they found it necessary to have wrist bands.
