As mentioned the synthetic line is subject to cuts from anything laying on the ground. Synthetic lines also come in every price point. After years of hauling steel line up the mountain side I finally bought synthetic. I went with a mid grade line with lifetime warranty.
If your current winch is a Warn, spare parts are plentiful and easily obtained. If it's a chinese knockoff it will be more trouble than it's worth to repair. What about mounting a winch to the truck. Use the current home/chain mount location for your snatchblock. Note: snatchblock used for steel line should not be used for synthetic.
