I am definitely getting the picture -- pull the trailer to the snatch block. The next issue is attaching the winch to something -- I don't have it mounted on the truck, for a couple of reasons. First, my driveway is so short that anything projecting from either the front or rear bumpers would create a problem -- you can't imagine how tight real estate is in Southern Calif. The other issue is that I want to be able to use the winch off the truck -- for example, when we boondock, it is possible that the trailer could get stuck in a tight place where we can't take the truck. We have always been able to get out of trouble without the winch, but there have been a couple of times where we came close to needing it.
I will probably sink a threaded socket into the concrete driveway to anchor the winch, and another one for the snatch block. When the trailer has been parked, I will just unscrew the anchor bolts from the sockets, and put away the hardware.
